May 24, 2017 – Konica Minolta is demonstrating its AccurioJet KM-1 using cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) technology at PacPrint.
The AccurioJet KM-1 is a sheet-fed UV inkjet press that delivers all the quality and versatility of offset printing with the convenience and flexibility of digital printing on any type of stock. It is the first inkjet print system that Konica Minolta is bringing to the market.
Partnering with Virtual Method, a dedicated augmented reality (AR) and VR specialist, Konica Minolta has created an immersive, interactive experience that takes potential customers on the AccurioJet KM-1 journey.
Visitors will be transported to a virtual print factory. Here they will see the AccurioJet KM-1 in full operation and be taken on a journey that will take them around, and actually inside the device, to marvel at the industry-leading technology that will transform their business.
David Francis, founder of Virtual Method, has been creating AR and VR for numerous industry leaders over the past seven years.
Chris Goult, marketing manager, Konica Minolta, said, “David has a background in commercial printing making him the ideal partner for this project because he understands how to capture the printing technology in the best way to captivate viewers.”
The demonstration will be shown on a HTC Vive VR headset and Konica Minolta is also looking at a version for the Samsung Gear VR.
Chris Goult said, “Konica Minolta wants to show potential buyers a different perspective through the use of VR. The VR experience will let our customers really get a sense of the technology from the inside out.
“Konica Minolta sees enormous potential in the application of VR and AR across the business. Adding experiences like VR to our sales process will help us really take customers on a journey, and will continue to set us apart.”
