Konica Minolta lends a helping hand on Landcare Day

Konica Minolta is a proud supporter of Landcare Australia, a partnership between the community, government and business that aims to protect and repair the environment. As part of our association with the organisation, Konica Minolta employees recently got their hands dirty in both Sydney and Melbourne during Landcare Week.

Employees from our Melbourne office volunteered with the Port Phillip Eco Centre, a community-managed not for profit organisation that works to benefit the local community and environment.

Konica Minolta spent the day at St Kilda breakwater which is home to 1600 Little Penguins. The breakwater is vulnerable to erosion, which could threaten the penguins’ nests and so requires ongoing maintenance. The Konica Minolta volunteers helped to transport sand from the beach to the breakwater to help grow indigenous plants that help prevent erosion.

Our Melbourne volunteers had a great day, enjoying the sunshine and social time as they walked 1km from the start of the pier to its end and back again, six times to move the sand. The whole process was made faster by our emergency purchase of some wheelbarrows, which we were proud to donate to the EcoCentre at the end of the day.

The Sydney office also made a difference on Landcare Day, volunteering at Middle Head National Park on the Sydney Harbour headlands. After a tour of the historic site and learning about the environmental issues that affect the national park, the team helped to regenerate the bush.

Konica Minolta would like to thank all of our volunteers for their efforts helping to make Landcare Day successful and impactful.

Konica Minolta also provided printing services for the 2016 National Landcare Conference on 21- 23 September. For more information on the National Landcare Conference, visit http://www.nationallandcareconference.org.au/

We look forward to many more years of working with Landcare Australia as part of Konica Minolta’s commitment to sustainability.
