Konica Minolta achieves Australian-firsts at PacPrint

05 Jun 2017

The recent PacPrint exhibition gave Konica Minolta the perfect stage to show off its innovative industrial print technology, designed to help customers meet the changing demands in the market.

Konica Minolta’s new technologies and innovations help professional printers produce high-quality products that are flexible enough to meet market demand.

Among the new technology on show were: the AccurioJet KM-1, Konica Minolta’s first B2+ high-speed UV inkjet press; the bizhub PRESS C71cf Label Press; and the MGI JETvarnish 3D EVO, a highly-accurate UV spot coating system with iFoil embellishment.

Australian-first purchase lets Jossimo deliver offset quality at digital prices

Jossimo, a commercial printer based in Melbourne, has purchased the AccurioJet KM-1 from Konica Minolta in an Australian first.

The AccurioJet KM-1 is a sheet-fed UV inkjet press that delivers all the quality and versatility of offset printing with the convenience and flexibility of digital printing on any type of stock.

Jossimo was potentially missing out on opportunities because it wasn’t able to offer the exceptional quality its high-level clientele expected. The company was looking to target high-end clientele in industries such as advertising, marketing, and government as well as explore packaging printing.

A number of things about the AccurioJet KM-1 stood out to Jossimo. In particular, the quality, the sheet size options, and the fact that there is little heat in the process, which protects the quality of the sheet and stops it from shrinking and curling.

With the AccurioJet KM-1 it can now offer offset quality at digital prices for short to medium runs, which is a compelling offering.

Trade label business continues to be first

Foxcil, a specialist trade label business based out of Brookvale in Sydney’s northern suburbs, and part of the Kirwan Print group, was the first to put a Xeikon label press into the Australasian market (with Kiwi Labels), and is now the first to purchase bizhub PRESS C71cf Label Press in Australasia.

The bizhub PRESS C71cf Label Press will ensure Foxcil can continue to address the market need for high-quality, fast label printing.

A key reason Foxcil chose the label press is that Foxcil’s clients demand the highest possible quality, and it is committed to delivering that.

Another reason was the small footprint with space being at a premium on the production floor because Foxcil now shares a factory with its twin company Roller Poster.

The deciding factor was the support offered by Konica Minolta. Foxcil is turning around projects in two days and cannot have equipment down for more than a few hours. Konica Minolta offers on-site breakdown service four times faster than our other press supplier.

The bizhub PRESS C71cf is ideal for label printers who are looking to shift volumes from conventional presses to digital to deal with shorter print run lengths, requests for faster delivery times, personalisation and versioning, and the production of on-demand runs.

Superior embellishment sets Whirlwind apart

Whirlwind Print has selected Konica Minolta’s MGI JETvarnish 3D EVO to offer superior embellishment for its clients and their customers.

The MGI JETvarnish 3D EVO has been specially designed to offer digital and offset printers a highly accurate UV spot coating system with iFoil embellishment. This adds value to the printed sheet and offers a highly sought-after sensorial raised print that is only available with the MGI 3D JETvarnish system.

As one of the biggest producers of business stationary products in the country, adding embellishment to its presentation folders, business cards, point of sale materials, and short-run packaging really adds an edge to everything it already offers from a digital and offset perspective.

The combination of the UV inkjet and embellishment choice really caught Whirlwind’s attention. Whirlwind chose the MGI JETvarnish 3D EVO because it will give it the best quality spot UV and foiling in 2D and 3D in the market. With a greater substrate and embellishment range Whirlwind will be able to add more choice to clients’ print portfolios, which in turn will add value to their customers.

Through MGI’s revolutionary digital process, the iFoil eliminates the need for films, dies, or screens, and offers quick and easy production of foil stamping jobs from one to thousands of sheets.
