The digital workplace is no longer defined by where people work. It is shaped by how information moves across people, systems, devices and locations. 

The research shows that many organisations are modernising quickly, but their governance practices, security controls and infrastructure strategies are not always keeping pace. 

This is particularly clear in print. Modern print environments now connect to networks, cloud platforms, document repositories, authentication systems and business applications, yet they are still often treated as operational tools rather than information assets.  

The Future Ready Report examines these challenges through three connected areas: security, information management and cloud print.

Print security is often overlooked in broader cybersecurity strategies, yet print environments now play an important role in how information is processed, stored, transmitted and managed across the digital workplace. 

Report 1, The security mandate: Protecting modern print, reveals that more than half of Australian organisations and more than half of New Zealand organisations surveyed experienced a print-related security incident in the past 12 months. 

The findings suggest that print environments have evolved faster than the governance and security controls surrounding them. Hybrid work, remote printing, cloud platforms and multi-site operations have created new exposure points that many organisations have not yet addressed consistently.

Cloud print is becoming an important part of digital workplace modernisation, particularly as organisations look to reduce infrastructure complexity, support hybrid teams and improve the way print and document workflows are managed. 

The final report in the series will examine cloud print adoption across Australia and New Zealand, including the drivers, barriers and roadmap considerations shaping the move from traditional print infrastructure to hybrid and cloud-based models.
